"Pilot" is the first episode of Season 1. It first aired on Fox in the United States on October 9, 1994.

Emily "MJ" Jordan initially struggles to adapt to her new life at PuffRuff Middle School. But along the way, she finds friends in scientist and aspiring inventor Kirby Ableman, comic book junkie Pyro Rexton, and art student Andrew Anderson.

Although this episode was produced in early 1993, it did not premiere until 1994.

MJ: [standing in front of the doors of the school] Okay, here goes...taking the first step towards the rest of my life...!

[MJ spits onto the blacktop]

Kirby: Hey, don't do that!

MJ: Why? It's not like anyone uses the blacktop to cook eggs or something.

[brief silence]

MJ: They don't do that around here, do they?
